Tradition, revolution, technology, and the power of collective voice in Cairo

Anna Kipervaser and On Look Films have just finished filming the feature-length documentary film, VOICES AND FACES OF THE ADHAN: CAIRO, examining the 1,400-year-old oral tradition of the Muslim call to prayer. The film follows the muezzins of Cairo — the voices of the city — as the tradition of the adhan, and Egypt itself, undergo crucial changes. Now that they have over 200 hours of footage, they have to edit all of it and finish the film within a year. They have three more days in their Kickstarter campaign to raise the money necessary to do so. Please join me in helping them reach their goal.

The film is an opportunity for intercultural dialogue between the West and the Middle East, at a time when it’s greatly needed.
